#BilalianExperience was started in 2015 by filmmaker Malikah A. Shabazz. Being fed-up with the lack of Black Muslim representation in American media, Malikah decided to create a IG page celebrating Black Muslim Americans. Since then, #BilalianExperience has grown from just an IG page to a brand, celebrating and promoting Black Muslim Americans.
